A little about me and why you need to read this. I am a divorced father and a attorney who practices now in Florida. Obviously, since I am in the legal system I should have been able to take advantage of it and make out like a bandit in my divorce.
WRONG, I was very naïve about the whole industry of divorce that has sprung up in this country. See, if your spouse wants to make your life a living hell and make you face financial ruin there are many people ready to help that process.
The problem that I encountered was that I did not know what types of dirty tricks that ex-spouses, lawyers, the court system and society could play. I was like a lamb being fed to the wolves. Please keep reading my pain is going to help you hopefully avoid those “dirty tricks” that can ruin yours and your children’s lives.
DIRTY DIVORCE TRICKS

I will never forget this eye opening story about how low a spouse can go to get you. A good friend of mine was just finishing law school. His whole world was opening up before him and he felt ready to go. All he had left to do was pass the bar and the money would come flowing in. I remember him telling me the surprise he received when he was walking into his bar examination…He was served with divorce papers.
That’s right on the most important day of his life he was served with divorce papers moments before his examination. Obviously, he was shocked and thrown out of his game plan for the exam.
Now why do I tell this story? I always try and emphasize that no trick is to low to an ex-spouse in a divorce and you have to be prepared to counter all of them…
That’s right you have to have the skills, knowledge and most important the mental courage to counter these dirty divorce tricks.
Now my friend faced all of the normal things that happen in a divorce. You know:
Financial ruin
Loss of seeing his children
Loss of helping raise his children
Being thrown out of his house (with no notice)
His bank account seized or taken
Having to pay thousands of dollars to attorneys
Like I said, those are the normal things that happen in a divorce. Now my friend was a man but it can easily happen in the reverse to a women:
Financial ruin
Losing your home
Finding the bank account emptied
Not receiving a penny in support
See the tricks go both ways. While it is easier to play dirty divorce on a man (we really are naïve and are easily tricked) Dirty Divorce Tricks go both ways.
Now most people would say:

Again back to my story. I did
not really understand what happens in a divorce. Over the years I have found that divorce attorneys are really
not like regular attorneys. (I know people think how can something be worse
than a regular attorney) Take my
advice they are different. There job
is to make money off you misery….They don’t care one bit about you or your
problem."
So
here is our first tip…..and it’s free to you:
Your divorce attorney does
not care about you and your problem.
You are there for the sole purpose of putting his kids through college
or to pay for his sports car. Once
you get that through you head you can start to understand how the whole
system is set up against you.
To you this is the most
personal thing that you can go through in your life. You have to air out your dirty laundry
with a stranger….and this stranger does not really care.
Now to make matters worse
here is your second free tip:
the
court system does not care about you
Yes you will be going in
front of a person, (a judge) who could care less on whether you are
financially ruined by this divorce.
The judge’s only care is that case proceeds orderly through the
courtroom. Now you may have noticed
that I said orderly and not quickly.
The judge does not care if your divorce takes 1 year or 4 years to get
through the court system.
In fact I appeared before
one judge (remember I am an attorney) in a civil case. Right before my civil case hearing was a
divorce hearing. I sat and chatted
with the judge and he candidly told me that he had grown up with these kids. I asked him what he meant. He said that this couple had been fighting
for over 15 years over various things.
He said that he had grown up with their kids because every couple of
months they parents would come and fight over them.
That is not only SAD but
it is horrible to think about. Over
15 years of fighting and I am sure that all they had accomplished was to
screw up their children.
So what can you do to stop the insanity?
Again, the only way to get out of a divorce with you sanity is to understand what horrible things can happen to you. Once you understand the tricks of the trade you can prevent them.
I always love an example from my child hood. Remember back to when you were a child and an older relative or uncle would take his finger and put it on your chest. He would say, “what’s that”. The moment you looked down he would pop you in the face. This is a common child hood prank. Well after you had seen the trick played on others or yourself you could recognize what they were trying to pull.
That is what we want to teach you.
TO RECOGNIZE THE DIRTY TRICKS BEFORE THEY ARE PLAYED ON YOU.

I always though that this was a funny one. An attorney who couldn’t win in the court system developing a way to win outside of it.

To have either custody or quality parenting time with our children
To be treated reasonably when it comes to financial matters
